Zimbru wins Moldova’s Super Cup for first time

Sheriff didn’t manage to take revenge on Zimbru after being beaten by it in the final of Moldova’s Cup. The Tiraspol team lost Moldova’s Super Cup to Zimbru as well, as a result of overtime, IPN reports.

The normal period ended by 1-1. The former striker of Zimbru Radu Ginsari opened the score in the last minute of the first half, but Zimbru tied in a minute. The newly signed striker Alexandru Grosu, who earlier played for FC Tiraspol, drew for Zimbru.

In overtime, goals were scored by Erhan, Vremea, Klimovici, Bogdan and, respectively, Isa, Ricardinho, and Benson. Dedov, Anton, Pavliucek and, respectively, Paye, Samardzic, Metoua and Luvannor failed to score.

“We missed too many great occasions. We lost and this means that our game was not good enough,” Sheriff coach Veaceslav Rusnac told a news conference after the match.

“It’s an honor to defeat Sheriff, which is a very good team. I’m very glad that we won,” said Zimbru coach Veaceslav Rusnac.

Zimbru won Moldova’s Super Cup for the first time. Sheriff so far won five Super Cups, while Dacia and Milsami – by one.
