Locals said the trees were cut several days before the inspectors came. They said they were scared by the noise outside and surprised when they saw that the trees on the lateral sides of the construction were cut.
“I don’t understand why they cut the trees. I see well the building site from the balcony and the trees were indeed located laterally. Given the level of pollution now, I don’t know what will stop this cloud of dust,” Alexei Tataru, dweller of a building situated opposite has told IPN’s reporter.
Inspectors of the Green Areas Company and of the State Ecological Inspectorate Victoria Shevchuk and Nelu Caliniuc determined that the building company’s employees cut the three declared trees earlier than planned, without informing the authorities. Another two trees were trimmed and are also to be cut.
The inspectors drew up a report and stopped the cutting. The company’s director avoided talking to the IPN’s reporter.
